Meet Our Boarding Stars from Wagin
Get to know some outstanding boarding students from Wagin who experience the extraordinary opportunities St Hilda’s offers.
Ava (Year 10)
When asked how boarding at St Hilda’s has prepared her for the future, Ava, a Year 11 boarder, enthused, “It’s been one of the best experiences of my life.” Ava shared,
“In just one year, I’ve made lifelong friends and seen a huge improvement in my learning. Transitioning from a small school in Wagin to a bustling environment in Perth was initially overwhelming. But the occasional homesickness is worth it when you experience all St Hilda’s offers. The Boarding House has made me more independent, resilient, and empathetic, and I’ve discovered the true meaning of sisterhood. These are essential life skills. Looking back, I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.”
Ava’s advice to girls considering boarding?
“Go for it! It might feel overwhelming initially, but once you settle in and see our community, you’ll love it. I have a second family here. It’s a feeling only boarders truly understand. It might be scary now, but trust me, you won’t regret it.”
Ella, Ruby and Sophie (Year 7s)
Ella recalls her first week, “I was nervous, but I quickly felt welcomed by the staff and other boarders.”
Ruby remarked, “The communal meals and fun activities are my favourite parts of the week”, with Sophie adding,“It’s given me the chance to connect with my boarding friends.”
