Learning the St Hilda’s Legacy

At St Hilda’s, we understand that belonging is more than just a feeling; it’s an integral part of shaping who we are as individuals and as a community. That’s why we believe sharing the stories of our history with our students is so essential. It connects us to the rich legacy that has shaped our school and gives our students a deep sense of pride and purpose.

Sandra Naude, who has dedicated 43 years to St Hilda’s, has become the heart and soul of our school’s legacy. As the Guardian of St Hilda’s Legacy, she brings immense knowledge and experience. Our Heritage Centre, a space loved and cherished by our community, is a testament to the school’s rich history. Here in our Heritage Centre, our Year 7 students embark on a journey of discovery during their Belonging classes.

In these classes, our students learn about and engage with the history of St Hilda’s firsthand through the archives stored within the Heritage Centre. This week, they researched the past principals, uncovering stories that have helped shape our identity.

Sandra, who has witnessed St Hilda’s evolution since 1982, shares,

“It’s been a privilege and joy to pass on these stories. Our history is not just about dates and events; it’s about understanding who we are and where we come from, ensuring that every student feels part of something much greater than themselves.”

By learning our history, we enrich our students’ sense of belonging and empower them to leave their own mark on St Hilda’s legacy.
